Reflection Post

Dear Past Self, You may think that your writing skills are awful and the scores on your high school AP tests and your ACT seems to reflect that. I know no one has helped you improve your writing or actually taught you something worth while to make you a better writer. You just have to wait for college because you will have some incredible professors and a writing center that will expand your knowledge of writing far beyond you ever thought was capable. You will take college writing 1 and 2 with Mark Letcher. he will teach  you a wide variety of writing styles. You will learn how to efficiently organize your outlines and turn them into valuable drafts ready for revising. You will understand the importance of revision and sharing your work to be critiqued even if you don't like it. These two classes will expand what you thought writing was and it will make writing the never ending amounts of papers seem relatively easy for you. To make a comparison  to what this will be ...

Finished Finals

The dreaded week is finally over. Hopefully all of us have made it out of finals week alive and with good grades. I managed to pull off having mostly "A"s and "B"s in my classes. This week has been very stressful for my trying to finish all my work and study at the same time.  Luckily it is all over now. I had a final on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. I know that is considered being lucky because I was fortunate enough to only have two finals, however any amount of finals gives a lot of stress with it. Everyone should find there own way to get rid of stress after finals week. My way to alleviate my stress is I'm going to London in three days now! I'm so excited to go on this trip, I have been waiting all semester. The trip is part of my study abroad class called comparative justice systems. basically the class compares the United States criminal justice system with Great Britain's criminal justice system. I will be in London for about a week full ...

The Last Class

Friday marks the last class of the semester. Writing in the Disciplines was a good class overall. I learned a lot about writing police reports that will help me in my future career. I'm really excited to start my career and hopefully become a K-9 officer I have always dreamed of becoming. In this class I worked with a lot of cool people that I'll hopefully get to see around campus during my last semester, next semester.

Finals Week

The week before finals week is always dreaded because of the impending doom off all the final projects being due. Immediately after that week we have to turn around and worry about finals. The last two weeks of the semester is always the most stressful time of the year. Students pulled many all nighters to work on homework, projects, and study for finals. We all try to cram everything to the last possible minute. A lot of procrastinators, like me, suffer the most putting the most stress on ourselves. However, even though I have done the same thing that I have done every semester by leaving it all to the end. This semester I feel barely stressed at all. I have two finals during finals week and a bunch of projects due the week before. For example, I have three projects due tomorrow in my sign language class. After I finish all of those and turn them in I will feel a huge amount of stress lift off of my shoulders. Then after tomorrow I feel for the first time I will be able to coast throu...

Warm Weather

Finally,  the cold weather has passed! Tomorrow is supposed to reach 80 degrees outside. This is the weather I have been waiting so long for. This is the weather I can go out and ride my motorcycle without three layers of clothes on just to stay warm. Wind chill is no longer a factor in the spring and summer because the breeze is nice and warm. In late may it will mark the first year anniversary I got my motorcycle. I wanted to upgrade already after riding my 300cc for about a year. Obviously being a college student and having no money prevents me from doing so. One day I hope to have a Yamaha FZ-07, it is a 700cc bike so quite the upgrade. It is a bike that can last me a lifetime and is super customize-able. There are a lot of aftermarket parts that I can add onto it, to make it unique to me. I hope to own the bike one day however for now it is just a dream. It isn't an unobtainable dream though as the bike cost $7000 retail.

Interrogation

Interrogations Interrogations have been predominantly done the same way for decades now. We see on popular television shows and movies how they interrogate suspects with all these different methods to create drama. However, they all generally get their ideas from a popular method called the Reid technique. Interrogations aren’t that simple though there is a lot that is at stake. One wrong move in the interrogation room can decide that case. Rules and regulations need to be followed when interrogating suspects. In high profile crime cases you can be dealing with someone’s life if you are trying to through them in jail for life. It should be the main priority to get the right person, and serve justice rather than get a confession out of someone. The Reid technique is pretty simplistic when you break it down. First you start off with behavioral analysis interview. You ask the person a number of questions, and many of the questions are neutral, and then you ask them some loaded question...

Blackhawks

My beloved Blackhawks have been eliminated from playoff contention. I have been watching the Blackhawks since I was little. More recently, if you live under a rock and don't know, the Blackhawks created a dynasty with winning the three of six Stanley Cup Championships from 2010 to 2015 seasons. The Blackhawks haven't missed a playoff season since 2008. Last season they killed it being the top team in the rankings prior to the post season. Then they got swept in the first round of playoffs by the Predators. We haven't seen a good year out of the Blackhawks for two years now. Hopefully they can change things around next year.
